Among the most feared complications of augmentation mammoplasty is the infection of the breast implants; reason why is the necessity of removal of such infected breast implant, which is irreversibly doomed due not having living tissue properties, this means the mammary prostheses does not have vascularity itself, does not receive immune cells defenses neither does receive antibiotics, therefore if an active infection occurs on the surface of the breast implant it will have to be removed sooner or later.

After several months of tissues cooling down and recovery the explanted breast may be re implanted again.
